Why “Go Kick-Ass?”

From Cartridge Heart label-person and general music enthusiast Jonathan Sohn:

I have a fairly massive music collection. Somewhere between four and five thousand discs. I’m a bit of a romantic about physical media. And I love making mix CDs for people – especially when I can provide a signal boost for underground artists that should be on everyone’s radar. So this project is the ultimate gift: a mix CD of the best and brightest of the independent scene. I didn’t want to release material that’s already been out for awhile, so I pressured my favourite bands to send me brand new stuff. To my amazement (and everyone’s good fortune) some of them actually obliged me! What we have is a collection of premieres, exclusives and b-sides – all previously unreleased. As for the title, it comes from a little rallying cry I like to give people before they play a set. It’s just a good mantra to have.
